Tab Tray

What is the Tab Tray?

The Tab Tray is a holding area for tabs that acts like a temporary bookmark list. It sits at the bottom of your tab list and lets you “put aside” tabs that you want to keep easily accessible but don’t need open in your browser right now.

Unlike closing a tab (which removes it entirely) or bookmarking (which saves it permanently), the Tab Tray is designed for short-to-medium-term storage of tabs you’re actively working with.

Adding tabs to the tray

You can add tabs to the tray in several ways:

  1. Right-click a tab in the tab list and select “Add to Tab Tray”.
  2. Drag and drop a tab from the tab list onto the Tab Tray header.
  3. Click the “Add Current Tab” button (plus icon) in the Tab Tray header to add the currently active browser tab.

When you add a tab to the tray, it is saved with its title and URL. The original browser tab remains open unless you choose to close it.

Opening and managing tabs in the tray

  • Click a tab in the tray to reopen it in your browser. The tab remains in the tray so you can access it again later.
  • Hover over a tab to reveal the Remove button (trash icon), which removes the tab from the active tray (and moves it to the archive if archiving is enabled).

Organizing the tray

You can reorder tabs within the tray by dragging and dropping them to your preferred position.

You can also sort using the Sort button in the tray header:

  • Manual: Your custom drag-and-drop order.
  • Title: Alphabetical order.
  • Date Added: Chronological order.

The Archive

The Tab Tray includes an automatic archive feature. If a tab is in your tray and its corresponding browser tab is closed, the tray item is automatically moved to the Archive.

This keeps your active tray list focused on what’s relevant to your current session, while the archive acts as a safety net for closed or stale items.

You can view archived items by expanding the “Archive” section within the Tab Tray. From there you can restore items back to the main tray or permanently delete them.

Settings

You can customize the Tab Tray in Settings under the Tab Tray section:

  • Enable/Disable: Hide the Tab Tray entirely if you don’t use it. Disabling it also hides the “Add to Tab Tray” option in the tab context menu.
  • Archive Retention: Choose how long archived items are kept before being automatically deleted (e.g. 1 week, 1 month).
  • Hover Actions: Enable or disable hover action buttons in the minimized Tab Tray view.
